I am going to have a quick nap and then tackle the review of the medical data again. Discovery is very neat and I will yap more about what I am discovering which is that most of us don't know what happens with reference to AHS, Covenant Health and Alberta Health stratagems --- until we FOIP stuff. It is pretty interesting how the problems are defined by the health care teams and how they are solved by them but not by the family. Maybe the GOA should actually get the health authorities and the care providers to make patient centred care a reality? Maybe Ms. Hoffman should ensure that visitation rights are real and not something that be denied based on the Trespass to Premises legislation? Maybe we should have the residential tenancy legislation expanded to the continuing care industry so that evictions aren't just a hammer on a resident? Maybe we should have due process, fairness and that just society that the folks at the Health Quality Council yap about and no one listens to? Maybe the GOA folks could also do what the HQCA asked them to do which is provide the Alberta Health Quality Audits, the AHS Quality Reviews, the CCHSS audits so that we can evaluate the places where our families are placed? Maybe we can have the end to the junk about limited access to such audits because of the dumb reason-- that poor audits are not given out because of problems for third party business interests? I mean isn't this the reason why Alberta Health has refused to give me the Health Quality Audit of 2014 that is necessary for me to defend my self in court? I find it curious that all these audits require a person to go to court in order to access. Surely the court system is overburdened already and the GOA could avoid the additional work by being transparent? Or is this entire refusal to release the Quality Audits about something else? Is it about a refusal to show the public the problems that government has ignored? Is it all about the image being maintained when the the reality is quite different? Is it about forcing citizens to pay for court costs and the trouble of court applications to find out the truth that the GOA already knows but does not want the public to know about? Who does the GOA work for? Does it work for the political party in power and is therefore so politicised that it cannot reveal that the politicians have messed up? Why then do we have government? If the GOA folks are for the politicians alone and the politicians are all about retaining their jobs then why should we pay for a government that does not serve us? Better to privatize the entire government for the most part, remove the public service, reduce our taxes and let us get the money to do the work that government does not do. Instead of dumb meetings of AHS employees and executive staff chewing the same crud over and over while people suffer --let families get the money and let us get the care for our families that we can in the private sector. We don't need government. Government needs us more than we need it. Let's do the work of government by ourselves.

Julie Ali
 feeling happy.
Just now
I spent the morning doing the income tax return with older boy.
He did it by himself with help with me.
I got the form filled and a copy made. It is waiting to be mailed out.
I have three more income taxes to do but I will leave them for after the lawsuit prep is done.
Rebecca was still in isolation the last time I checked with her.
I will wait to visit her as I don't want younger boy getting infected.
Right now I could do with a nap. The income tax form was small as older boy has only finished at NAIT last year but still we made mistakes.
How it is possible to mix up the columns is beyond my understanding but we did it and we had to add everything up again.
Inside the writing room the geraniums have gone pretty vivid and are blasting off to space with all the flowers that they can make.
I am going to have a quick nap and then tackle the review of the medical data again.

#GoodSamaritanSocietyLawsuit--Families are at a disadvantage in their interactions with government, health authorities and continuing care providers because we lack information. We are given the information that government wants us to see but not the information that is required for us to have a balanced and realistic understanding of the continuing care facilities where our family members are placed.
The accommodation audits are put up temporarily and then taken down; these audits do not tell us about the problems that are more significant-such as the lack of adherence to the CCHSS standards, failed quality audits, specific PPIC complaints--and so the government unilaterally keeps these audits out of the public eye. When we FOIP for this information government has an out in that it can decide to limit information release. In other words, even if you ask for all the audits on a facility, you may be denied specific audits.
In my case, I was refused the Alberta Health Quality audit of the Good Samaritan Extended Care at Millwoods. No one told me that I wasn't getting the audit-they just did not give it me. Now if I did not know that this audit had been retained by the GOA how would I go to the Office of the information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta to get this information? It is a very pretty set up.
I only found out about the refusal to give me the Alberta Health Quality Audit of 2014 because of the PPIC investigation notes which also were severely redacted to the point of being useless.
What does this mean to us as citizens? It means we are not getting the information that is necessary for public discourse on the problems in the continuing care system. We are not getting information because government has decided not to give the public this information. The only reason why the government would not give out the information is because this information release is not in the best interests of the GOA or the continuing care provider.
So this raises another question. If the GOA is working only in the best interests of the GOA and the private sector continuing care provider --who is working for the public? Who is working for the residents in the continuing care system? And why do I have to make a court application to get the audits?
