Public Interest Alberta January 16 at 9:46am · Saskatchewan is responding to a budget deficit by making cuts, which will only hurt their economy. Alberta has thus far resisted that approach. It's useful to remember: "...what is needed most during an economic slump is for spending to increase from both the public and private sectors."------Julie Ali Cuts need to be made. But this government will not make the cuts. We will vote Wildrose in the next election and cuts will happen. We cannot keep paying major salaries in the public sector while folks in the private sector are unemployed. The NDP will have to make cuts to the ABCs (agencies, boards and commissions) or are they making money out of air? It's not possible for ordinary citizens to pay for the extra privileges we are forced to pay for and why should we pay for these entitlements? It makes no sense to me that we spend millions of dollars on executive staff at health authorities when more and more Albertans are unemployed. Get going NDP folks. Prune, cut wages and do what is required to reduce our liabilities. It is possible to do this immediately and put the savings into frontline staff.
